Fall Dining Room

Last week I showed a little preview of the beginnings of my fall decor in the dining room, today I'll show you the rest of the room, but before we get to that, here is what it looked like before I started...

The dining chairs have on their summer slips.

The Chinese cabinet is set up as a bar to the left of the windows,

Crystal candle sticks, a floral print scarf, and antique cake stands laden with fruit adorn the table,

A silk dieffenbachia sits in the corner to the right of the windows, and the china hutch has a vignette of light catching crystal pieces, a pair of ornate brass candelabras that belonged to my mother, and a kaleidoscope orchid that's still in bloom graced the top.

With just a few simple changes, the room now reflect the subtle changes of the season,

The slip covers have been removed from the chairs, revealing the paprika suede upholstery,

The Chinese cabinet has been moved, and in it's place is the dieffenbachia along with a giraffe statue

Leaf shaped plates with votives, a green silk table runner with embroidered leaves, small pumpkins added to the fruit display, along with one of the two brass candelabras now decorate the table.

The crystal on the hutch has been replaced with a large mercury glass vase with a sparse arrangement of branches, a vintage silver candy dish with a autumn colored candle, small pumpkins, a collection of fabric covered boxes and a lion footed french clock.

Both lion corbels now flank the hutch, one with a velvet covered box, and the other with a pumpkin and an vintage silver bowl

The Louis chair is now home to one of my oriental silk stork motif pillow.

I love how the simple changes, like removing the slip covers, change the mood of this room. When it gets closer to fall, I will change out the linen window panels and replace them with dupioni silk in a muted gold shade, add real pumpkins to the vignettes, and some dried leaves to the mercury glass vase. The silk dieffenbachia will be replaced with a large urn filled with dried branches, and I'm hoping to find a rug for this room at our upcoming fall community garage sale.

I will be joining these fun parties...
