Interior designer Alison Womack Jowers was dating the homeowner, Jay Jowers when she started working on this Buckhead home. And, like in a fairy tale, they eventually married just before completing her work. So, she actually had time to include her own personal preferences.
In A Midsummer Night's Dream, William Shakespeare wrote... "A lion among ladies is a most dreadful thing"
No offence to Mr. Shakespeare, but this lady loves lions, and finds nothing dreadful about them at all... I have many august 'lions' in my family and circle of friends, I also have a pride of lions in my decor.
The urn has two lion faces, the clock has lion feet and two faces on both sides, the mirror has a small lions face hidden in the leaves.
There's just something so regal and stately about lions.
So bold in their stature.
This set of crocodile embossed leather bookends has opposing lions sitting on top of each.
This set of bookends, one lion looks as if it is smiling, the other looks more stern.
We have had this modern looking light fixture in the breakfast nook that was already there when we moved in three years ago, it's a 20" pendant by Possini in nickel... we will call it the Jetsons because it's modern looking.
It was already in the process of coming down when I remembered to take pictures.
This weekend we my husband replaced it upon my request, with this pendant that has a linen drum shade with a band of twigs around it... we will call it the Beverly Hillbillies because it's rustic and homespun looking.
I like the Beverly Hillbillies fixture, my Man likes the Jetsons
Which one do you like best... the Jetsons or Hillbillies?
Today's house was built in 1914 and is one of a row of townhouses made for the workers of a local factory. A green oasis in the city, it is located in Oslo and overlooks the Aker River.
